  About

NTLFNHLP implements translation services for DOS LFN (long filename)
functions. The code will only get active if it runs in a DOS box on
NT platforms, because in Windows 9x, DOSEMU or HDPMI these services
are already part of the DPMI server.

The Makefile will create a PE DLL named NTLFNHLP.DLL. Currently the
object modules will be statically linked with DKRNL32.DLL, so there
is no need to use NTLFNHLP.DLL if DKRNL32.DLL is loaded. But it may
be useful to load for true DOS apps not using DKRNL32.DLL.

For MZ executables use TEXT.MAK. The object modules will be copied
to dkrnl32\Text, and ..\DKRNL32\TEXT.MAK will include them in dkrnl32s.lib.

Since NTLFNHLP currently is an integral part of DKRNL32, it also
supports 16-bit clients. For this use ESP16.MAK.

  History

2006/01/29: make NTLFNHLP also work for DPMIONE, which has no LFN
              translation.
2005/08/01: switch ?CLI added to disable interrupts because the code
              is not reentrant.
