Sometimes you have to install a new device driver:

(*) You copy files, insert adequate `Config.sys' lines, plug-in the
device, and finally reboot the PC.

    (*) "Sh*t! -- What's wrong? I'm unable to access the new device!"

(*) You check the loaded device drivers and see your driver is missing!

Now it would be nice to see the driver's loading messages, but it is quite
difficult to hit the `Pause' key at the right time.

  That's where PAUSE comes in!

Start an ASCII text editor, e.g., Edit or Notepad, load `Config.sys' or
`Config.nt' and insert a new line like `device=pause.sys' (without quotes)
after every single `device[high]=...' line you are interested in.

With the next reboot and for every inserted PAUSE line your system will
display the message `Press any key to continue...' and give you the
possibility to inspect the screen as long as you want.

Just strike a key to leave PAUSE and continue loading DOS normally. PAUSE
will NOT stay in RAM any longer then.
